question about Discover 5% cashback

Okay. lets say if I logged in Discover and then go to their mall and click on 5% cashback for buying MBA ( mac book air ) thru apple links and then I used my new US bank Cash back Visa to order it.. will this work? 5% plus 1% cashback on USBank without actually using my Discover Card #'s , or did discover closed up this loophole? I am trying to get it near $1,000 on MBA 13" 8 G / 256 GB by using this method plus @edu email account for further discounts

I haven't tried it recently but i think you can do that , i did that something like that last year when i bought my nexus 7 tablet , when staples had some deal. I used my freedom to buy it on shopdiscover. This is obviously an major YMMV situation. I also heard if you need to return it for any reason , there may be complications.

Sweet on the freedom idea.. so 5% + 5% ? meaning 5% credited to your discover account plus to the freedom account?

it was more about me being annoyed about my IT CL so didn't want to use it. It was a double dip if thats an word. It was 5% staples discount on tablets, 5% staples shop discover and freedoms only had 1%.

I have done this several times but the results were mixed. Some transaction I did get the Discover cash back and some I did not. If you do not use the Discover card to pay there is nothing you can do if it does not work out as officially Discover will tell you it will not work I always do it if I can at least get close to the Discover deal with a single other card and love the gamble if I get a chance to double cash back like this.

Thanks for info.. I wish Discover would give me $300 CLI thru SP to make it $1,300 that would be perfect but I refused to give up a HP for a measley 300 CLI

I have had better luck shopping through ShopDiscover, and paying most of the balance with a gift card and the remaining with the Discover.

Ask for more than $300. Make it worth a HP.

If you can wait for Q4 online shopping, you will get 5% for ordering it anywhere online and then you can search for the best cash back option in ShopMore mall. They stack like that. If best buy offers you 2% and you buy it online, you get 7% cash back.

BTW, you have to use your discover card in the discover mall to reap any cash back from them

I see that HomeDepot.com gives 5% through ShopDiscover, and also this month features 5% at HomeDepot. If I order through ShopDiscover and pick up in-store, would I get 5% + 5% ?
