Barclay 2nd Card and Moving CL Question!?

So with my newly approved $1300 Rewards Card could I apply for a Sallie Mae Card and ask that they move $800 from the Rewards Card to open the Sallie Mae if they declined it?

What is the minimum Sallie Mae Limit?

I've talked to Barclay about 4 times in the last week and was told that a PC isn't possible... I must reapply for any 2nd card.

Soooooo.... Good luck with that one. The reps told me they can transfer limits between accounts (and then close one of them) but didn't say anything about transferring limits to open an account you've been declined for.

I'd call that wishful thinking.

The OP hasn't been declined yet. They are anticipating an approval due to needing further review from Barclay.

I've seen quite a few Barclays PC posts, so it is certainly possible, but perhaps not an option for you yet.

As for the second point, there was a recent post in approvals where someone's SM was approved on the condition that credit be allocated from another Barclays card.

My bad.... Looks to me like the OP was asking if they could take credit from their new Rewards card and apply some of it to opening a SM card if they were denied in their pending app.... That's how I read it anyway.

As for Barclay PC I don't know what to believe. I talked to 4 reps... 3 said a PC wasn't possible and the 4th said it may be at a later time. These calls were all made in the same day and I even mentioned what people have said here about PCing their Rewards to an Arrival.

I'm content with waiting for now... My card will be a year old in Sept and I don't care about adding inquiries for credit I don't need.

I have heard that Barclay doesn't PC certain cards for whatever reasons. As for CL moving...no idea if they do this.

they will move cl's but it does require an app and a denial so to speak. after i apped for my upromise they were more than happy to move the cl

So you had to be denied the card in order to have your CL moved to it for approval??? If so, that's crazy! Did you reach a internal limit with them the reason this happened?

Yeah, I got instant approval for the amazing limite of $350

But I moved $1000 from Rewards over - I should move more and stop using the rewards cards. Just realised My IR is better on the Sallie Mae.

I can't figure out why they didnt just deny me, but *shrug*.

Funny, I didnt even realize that they hand out 350 limit.......sounds so cheezy coming from a Sallie Mae card.

I hope to get me a Sallie card as well as soon as my reward card turns 1 yr this november.

I see that I am too late for my suggestion to wait and not app now. For better results with Barclays I would have recommended to wait 6 months but good luck anyways!

That is what I did. Apped 1 year after the Arrival and got WMC with best terms. It was worth the wait for me

The 2nd app was system auto declined because of the first approval. He opened back for review and quickly did not like ALL my new accounts over the last year tied into the fact that I am just 1 year since setteling a Barclay account AND the recently approved... that was it.

I asked to split some of the credit line from the rewards and he said no.

I asked to PC rewards to Sallie Mae and he did put me on hold but then came back and was told no by his supervisor.

okay, over to my original plan of waiting 6 months with the new rewards card then trying for Sallie Mae... so happy to get back in with Barclay

I got denied as well.. Said they couldn't move balance from sallie mae cause only one statement had cut on the card and denied me the card due 13 new accounts a year or less in age.. Also mentioned that wanted to see how I handled the new Credit limits.. I went from total of 2K limit all the way to 45K in that time as well.. She told me that if I keep good with my accounts I would have no problem in 6 months.
