Gardening is where you dont apply for any new credit. Basically to help your report and such. I am currently gardening, its been 13 mos. since my last app. Sometimes you will see a symbol in someones signature showing how far each person is. I have a platnium spade representing that its been at least 12 mos since my last app.

The garden is for people to refrain from applying for new credit and take care of the tradelines that they have. Check out the garden club thread, which is on the first page in the credit cards forum.

Correct you do. However building credit is like a triathalon not a sprint. So all in time with a healthy relationship with your lenders it will build. So heres my current stats. Mine are similar to yours.

0 Baddies

1.8 yrs AAOA

5 credit cards (3 revolving, 2 store)

100% payment history

20k in student loans

The above info is my stats which has me with a 706 Fico Score. So in other words its easily possible, just keep all your accounts in good standing. And let those accounts age, unfortunately we cannot control time. Wish we could though. Also low utilization will keep your scores higher too.

So for me currently i have 64% utilization, my score is hurt a little. However once i have paid all my cards and they report my score will go back up. So keep your cards paid preferable in full.

Most of what I've read (a lot of it from here) suggests to pay balances down so that statements will reflect low utilization. Consensus seems to be 1-10%. Then pay statements in full. Rinse and repeat.

Correct. Anything that leads to any additional lines (including secured loans) of credit, and hard pull cli's.
