I believe it's typically a promotional period (like 12 months).

If the full amount is not paid in that time, then the interest is applied retroactively (deferred interest).

This is different than 0% CC offers.

http://www.carecredit.com/cardholder/financing_options.html

What I have found with mine (had it since 07) the length of time to pay off has been in direct correlation with the amount put on the card at that time. But, it's usually a hefty amount $150 - 2000.00.

2 years ago I had my kitty at the vet several times over 3 months getting all kinds of testing done. She was finally diagnosed with cancer. Within a week I had her put to sleep and cremated. I believe the final total over those months was about $2800. I'm at work & don't have access to my statements but I believe I had something like 18 mo at least to pay it off.

I have had no problem paying up before interest adds on. The statements also clearly tell you when each purchase is nearing the "date" of payoff.

This card has been my best one for taking care of my kitties!

Just thought I'd put in a pic. My little Pie Pie (sweetie pie) Worth every penny I spent!

Yes, as has been stated, it is a deferred interest plan and how much time you have to pay it off depends on how much you spend. My dental work (about $335) was given 6 months. My optometrist was around $480, so that's on a 12 month plan. So long as you pay the balance before the promotion expires, you won't be billed the interest.

Talk to your health care provider about promos.

As far as GE is concerned it can go all the way up to 24 months, but not all providers will offer that. It depends on what they have set up with Care Credit.

But they CAN alter their terms if they want to.

For example. I just had $3500 worth of dental work done and they offered Care Credit at a maximum of 0% for 12 months.

I taked to my doctor explained my financial situation and asked if they could possibly do 18 months.as that would be what I needed.

He simply said it costs him bit of interest to do that but it was minor and ran it through that way for me. I got the 0% 18 months even though technically that didn't offer it.

But to be fair, he did say it wasn't something he does all the time. Its a case by case thing, and my financial situation att he time + what needed to be done justified it.

YMMV, but talk to your provider. They can alter their terms to suit your needs if they need to. Just depends on them.
