Hi everyone,

I have had my AMEX PRG since early May2014 now. The first month, I charged about $2000 then paid it as soon as I got the Statement. I currently have a balance of $5600 that I ofcourse will pay off in a couple of days once they close their statements.

The questions I need help with are;

1- Should I first make the payment before applying for a Revolving CC from AMEX?

2- Which Revolving card(s) would you recommend? I'm torn btn Everyday and Delta Gold Or Costco

On a hindsight note, 3 days ago, I applied and was approved a day later for a Navy goRewards Visa CL $7,000 (on its way now) woohoo.

my income is $72k, no collections, paid off judgement from 2009, two 30-day lates on a secured card with a horrible billing system.

What are your thoughts folks?

I'm interested in what people's thoughts are on this also. I'm kind of in the same boat as to which card compliments the gold well.

I went with the everyday pref - Ill tell you, its a game to get those 30 transactions /mth for me WHILE using max benefit

The 4.5 pt for grocery and 3 pt for gas (after hitting 30 trans mth) are making the points rack up very fast.

AWESOME card in my opinion (and yes, I have PRG as well)

Delta isn't an option for me as they don't fly nonstop to my usual vacation spots. So, I have the EDP and a Platinum. That gives me traveling benifits + the ability to rack up MR points with the EDP.

Are you flying Delta exclusively on your trips? The free checked bag is nice since carrying anything onboard is always like herding cats. I know it isn't on your list but I would go for SPG since it has good partner redemption and gives more flexibility. Delta miles are just about worthless (great airline though) and unless you have a generous bonus I don't think the card pays for itself or the hard pull.

I've used Delta on a few occasions. Most of my flights are last minute trips. The other aspect I considered is based on the posts I've read, it seemed like Delta Gold was the easiest Revolver to get here. I'll look into the SPG as well.

You didn't mention your family situation, do you commonly travel alone or with family?

You might want to consider the Amex Delta Platinum card. It has a higher annual fee, but you get 1 free companion ticket each year. The value of the companion ticket alone will cover the annual fee for most flights.

Is Priority Pass of any interest to you? You mention you travel very often, airport lounges can be much more comfortable (and accommodating with free food and drinks usually) than waiting at the gates where you don't always get Wifi and have to pay for refreshments. If so, you could look at the Platinum card. You get a $200 yearly airline reimbursement, bringing you AF down to $250. But, you also get unlimited airport lounge access (unfortunately no longer at American Airlines or US Airways), which if purchased through Priority Pass, is a $400 value. Amex added boingo to their list of features which also gives you access to tons of wifi hotspots. I expected this to be limited, but I surprising found a hotspot in a small town where I was having a lunch. It was great because the 4G service their was limited. You automatically receive Gold Preferred Membership at Starwood. On top of that, there are lots of travel insurances (baggage and car rental).

So after getting my Navchek Approval yesterday, the App itch kicked in high gear and I Applied for the Amex Everyday.

i was instantly declined. so i called the new accounts dept to find out why and the Rep went through a list of reasons why I was declined. He then paused and said he noticed I already have the PRG card.

so he says the 2 main reasons are;

- Length on time with Amex is too short (2 months)

- Too many recent inquiries (13 on Exp)

He then says he is going to have a supervisor review my Application since I'm an existing card holder, I should get a response in 5-7 work days.

Status now changed from "Declined" to "In Process"

I hope it goes through (fingers crossed) no more Apps for me till Jan 2015.

Has anyone else gone through this before?
