discover....gave me auto cli after i sp cli...? maybe

I asked something about the discover sp cli a couple days ago since I tried it and got 4000 increase without having to get another hit..(original 4k, so it should be 8k)

but then today when i logined and was shocked and upset.. because IT JUST DROPPED TO 4250.. WHAT?!

like gave me a toy credit limit increase......... and i was so confused and upset..

i was at work so couldn't really reach discover..

just then i called... they said that they saw i got approved for that 8000, and they just had to manually adjust it.. so now it's 8k..

what kind of joke is that.. i was sad sad sad this morning...

my theory is that the error occurred because the sp cli and auto cli happened nearly at the same time.. is that luck? i don't have the card for a year.. but it was around my bday.. not sure if theres anything to do with that..

discover didn't give me any bday gift ( i heard people got a gift card or something from discover during the month of their bday)

But now you are happy :-) I can't even get an single sp cli for 1 dollar with them so you should be pretty happy about that.

I had to take a HP for a $250 increase to get it to a total of $1k

but i had the card for half year and it was the first time i asked for cli.. i thought people did it right after the third period statement hits..

I got Declined 3 times for a Soft pull and did 1 HP and got accepted. Did my first SP around September which was the 3 month mark and they asked if they wanted to do a HP and decline , Approved my 1st HP around 2 months after that and Declined my SP this month. Discover It seems is a bit stingy but oh well. Until it becomes my lowest card i wont Sock drawer it

I had it for a full year now since June 19th and I now have a lot more cards with more favorable Limits

I would be satisfied becausee discover sp cli aren't guaranteed after 3 or 4 statements. Discover is starting to annoy me with the no sp cli for me. I guess will just use it for shop discover and 5% categories.

How do they pick people? i mean.. it seems that they are weird!!! And from what you said.. i assumed that you got sp cli before just not recent??? also if i were you, i probably wouldn't care about the discover since you have a lot better cards to use than discover...

i only wanted to up it's limit because people on the forum said that Chase like to see if you can manage cards with higher than 5000 limit well or something like that.. i now have 6k fidelity and 8k discover.. so i am hoping that i can get a more pleasant cl when i app for chase freedom or CSP.. or just the CS..

Mine has been SD'ed since December...I refuse to take a HP not knowing what kind of a crappy raise they might give me. I've been trying for a SP CLI since day 90 and over a year now.

I applied for the It in January 2013 and was approved for $1250. I didn't get any type of CLI (tried via automated system and online love button) until I took a HP for an increase to 5k at the 1 year mark. After that I've been getting SP CLI every few months.

1.25k>HP CLI 5k>SP CLI 9.5k>SP CLI 11k

Discover seems pretty random with how they give out sp cli. I will probably take an HP for cli after i apply for all the card that i want, so that may be end of this year. I am going to make sure i apply for sallie mae and another amex first before i use hp cli for my IT.

most success i've read about Discover CLI's come from usage (lots) and letting a balance report.

If you never use the card then I guess they don't feel the need to issue anymore credit.

Congratulations on the bump you got! They did fix it so now you have 8k.. what is it you were looking for? They doubled your limit, which for any lender is awesome in my eyes. (especially if they did it with a soft pull)

You indicated that you might not be satisfied though, so I'm curious what it is you're hoping to see?

No problem I will post what happens I will put my insurance on discover every month.just see what happens .not holding my breath on getting sp CLI. Just will wait till I get all the cards I want then worry about HP CLI

Also, you just recently were approved for several of your non-"toy" limit cards so give it some time and i'm sure the rest will catch up.

Just for another data point, I've only put like 1,700 spend on my Discover (had a 3k limit) in my 3 months, but got an e-mail today saying I got a $600 auto CLI to 3.6k. I PIF each month except for this last statement, that I let ~$75 report (no 0% intro).
