I was thinking of getting a Wachovia card. I tried to do my usual research on here but to my surprise there aren't too many threads on here about Wachovia credit cards. From what I read they tend to pull TU, they don't like baddies and they tend to give very good CLs. Am I missing anything? Tu-697 Ex-697 EQ-703 as of 4/29/08

I just applied for a CC last week and received a "Wachovia Classic" card with a $1500 CL, 14.99% APR and 0 AF. I do have a checking account with Wachovia so maybe that had something to do with it. EQ = 670.

Message Edited by westcoastcyc on 07-22-2008 03:15 PM

People had warned me about that bank...but did I listen...Nooo! Please think about it before you even try to get a credit card with them. I only had a checking and that was bad enough as it is! Now a credit card...you will be working with their money and as far as I can see; working with your own money they are really bad, what more theirs?

They have made mistakes with my debit card; sending me wrong ones; where I could not use my own money for 3 days. Slow to respond to a situation where someone stole and used my debit card at their own ATM during the day, while the bank was open! They hold your transactions and process them in their preffered order so its a gurantee that you get not 1 but at least 3 overdraft charges for 1 transaction!

Their sales reps give you different stories all the time. One person told me my direct deposit did not come throough coz I it was payroll's fault. Turns out she didnt know what she was talking about.

This is only half the dramatic story I've had with them. So, if you still feel like Wachovia is good for you...maybe I should tell the rest of the story and tell it in detail unlike the summary above.

I have wells fargo home mortgage (Wachovia). When I got my loan they said I would qaulify for their credit card. At the time I did not want it but 3 months later I decieded to go ahead and apply for it. I called in to apply and the guy tried getting me to sign up for a checking and savings account with them. I told him no because I have been with my bank for so long. He then went thru the credit card info. It came back 7-10 day rule. He gave me a number to call and when I called it they said I was denied due to not haveing a checking or savings account with the and something else on my TU credit report but I had just checked my TU & EQ right before I applied. No baddies or lates. Score on TU is 780 pulled on the same day applied. I asked why did they not tell me I had to have a checking or savings up front and I would not have wasted an inqury and she said by law they could not discourge from applying.

I would not open anything else with them because of this shady practice.
