topic Chase reporting in Credit Cards

I have multiple cards with Chase and keep track of when each reports. Just this month I noticed that two cards that I paid to zero, reported on the date it was paid to zero and not the regular cycle date.

When I called, I was told they just started doing this.

Has anyone else noticed this and if it has been beneficial? Right at the moment, all it did was mess up my spread sheet. lol

Thanks

Virgo, others have reported they’ve noticed the same with Chase. It just started a couple of months ago.

Is it beneficial? Well, I prefer to pay the entire statement balance when it’s due (as opposed to paying off the entire card before the statement cuts). With this new policy, if I ever need my cards to show a $0 balance on my CRs, I don’t have to try to time it at all. I like it.

I also track my due dates, statement dates, and reporting dates. These numbers have almost always been identical plus or minus one day on the statement and reporting dates.

I'm temporarily signed up for the EX PLUS/FAKO monitoring in prep for an Amex app and this week I noticed exactly what you mentioned. One of my cards has a due date on the 5th. It's always had a statement date on the 8th and generally reports to EQ and EX on the 12th. I want it to report with a zero balance this month so I paid it in full on the 4th and have been watching it closely and refreshing the EX FAKO daily (which is why I signed up) to make sure that if a monthly recurring bill gets posted I can pay it before the statement date on the 8th.

On the 4th my EX FAKO showed the correct current balance and then on the 5th it went to zero which was quite surprising.

I only have two primary cards and until recently I was PIF on both of them. Last month when I let one report a balance and I got a ~15 point EQ FICO increase via Score Watch. Then, as an experiment I let the second one report a balance and I got a ~15 point drop. I'm hoping to see the 15 points come back in a Score Watch update around the 12th but and haven't gotten that yet (as expected because it's not the 12th yet).

Being overly curious I pulled an EQ and EX FICO on the 6th and the EQ still shows a balance on the card in question and no reporting for July but the EX report shows a balance of zero and a reporting for July.

To sumarize that I have a Chase card that reported to EX the day I made a payment which was a day before my due date and 5 days before my statement date but EQ does not have that information yet.

I'm not sure I see any upside to this but I don't think it will hurt either if it's consistent although it could cause problems for people who make multiple payments each month and are trying to manange the exact amount that gets reported which hopefully isn't too many of us

Edited: Typo and smiley fix.
