Hello fellow FICO members. I am obviously new to these forums as I am also new to credit (8 months of credit history). If I am posting this is in the wrong forum section, please advise me. Let me proceed with my case.

I am a very stubborn person, so with that said I applied for the Amex PRG for the second time this year. The first denial was due to the fact that I had no FICO score since I was under 6 months of credit history. I applied again on July 4th (No i wasn't drunk when I decided to apply AGAIN with such short credit history). Without a doubt, I was denied. I did call in the following day to recon my app. The csr was very nice and helpful and sent my app for review. It's been about 2 days now and it still says "in progress" online. Is it bad that they are takin this long? They stated reason for denial was too short of a history and a couple more stuff. My EX FICO was 703 when I apped this weekend. I have 4 CC.

BofA Cash Rewards - $1k
Discover It - $2,250
CO Quicksilver - $500 (They are stingy)
Wells Fargo Secured - $300

I did read some old FiCO posts and I heard sending a well written letter to EO would sometimes help.

Anything short of an out right denial is a good sign.. AMEX is NOT recon friendly at all and generally require new information (updated credit report with corrected errors) to review and over turn a decision. Good luck and keep us posted!

Side note : If denied I would not apply again for at least another year. The cards are not that great there are others out there that you can qualify for with much less hassle.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get denied again for short history and too many inqs. I really hope you get it though but if you dont it's time to garden. While your score looks ok now (700+) remember that it's deceptive and is not the only factor they consider when extending credit. Good luck, amex is known to be very tough to recon unless there was a glaring error in your CR that got fixed.

your experian score should qualify you for the card and as for income, I got accepted for it with a low income so the only thing that would prevent you from being approved is length of credit history and average age of credit

I have a good income. It's probably the age of credit and the amount of new credit in such period of time that would get me denied.

You can always try for Amex again later when you're ready and you've had more credit history and longer age of account history too. I think the first two cards especially already sound great.

Well then there is no question they have an inaccurate and old report, I mailed my Experian report and Fico score from here today. It seems they will not budge until you send over paperwork, why they cant just do a HP, i have no idea...I will let you guys know how the recon goes, I know they are few and far between with Amex.

I've recently applied to Amex Credit Cards. I keeping getting denied. I sent a recon letter for the Amex Everyday Credit Card on July 15, 2014. I called on July 22, 2014 to check the status and the lady said it was sent to the Executive Office for a decision and that it would take 4 or 5 days. Just before this the application status said "declined" now after I sent the recon letter it says "In Progress." Do anybody think or know will I be approved or not?
