Bye bye First Premier!

I have nothing bad to say about them as their card served its purpose for me. Got what they call a Platinum MC 18 months ago with a $700 limit. With my recent Cap1 increase and approval for Marathon Visa, it was time to kick them to the curb and stop paying that monthly service fee. That and I keep reading the "rumor" that certain sub prime lenders turn their nose up if you have those on your CR.

They tried like heck to talk me out of closing the account. Lady rambled on for a long time about how I should read information on a site called "myfico" and how it would be bad to close their account. LOL

Anyway glad to be rid of them!

Well sure if you look at my current card list. First Premier was the card that got me started back on the good credit path. All the cards in my sig came after the FP card.

Funny you say that. I do have one bad thing to say about them. Rather than offer a CLI on that card I have paid perfectly for 18 months. Just last month they offer me a second one like it! "Congrats!! because of your payment history we are offering you a second......." Sure I love that card so much I want it's twin?!

I did manage to get them to cough up a $40.00 credit last month when I first told them I was closing the card. But they would not budge on doing a CLI without a fee and maybe a HP! I really do not understand their business model. Why not try and graduate people to a better card and retain the business?!

Oh well they served their purpose for me and moving on....

It's easty First Premier and First National learned that they can profit more by charging $6 per month from millions of people that have no other credit options. Additionally, out of these milllions of people a good percentage will pay their bills a day or two late each month... which takcs on $40 each time.

Thats their model.
