Oh I got the cash on hand for a ring. I simply am looking for an excuse to add another card, get some bonus points maybe, and start a new relationship with another creditor. If that makes any sense, i hope! lol. Chase Freedom has a $100 bonus, Well thats worth the Hardpull I think.

Just scared of denials. Hope someone has a credit report simliar to mine to give me an idea. I think Discover or Chase will be nice to add. Just dont want to see denial. Or get an approval but be a small $500 limit.

Alright, its been a few months in the garden and starting to get some CLI on a few of my cards. I been looking at some diamond rings a few months back, but decided to wait off and let my scores continue to garden and go up. Luckily I did, because I have had some great bumps the last few months. Not where I want to be but close!

I've hopped around the pre approval sites. Here is my credit profile.

Equifax (MyFico) is 692 (as of this month, after the change on the site, i lost about 50 points with the update)
Transunion (Barclay) is 678
Equifax, not sure.

Income: $34,000

Barclays, Opened 3/14: 0/1000

Walmart, Opened 3/14: 30/1400

Paypal, Opened 3/14: 0/1000

Credit Union, Opened 4/14: 0/1300

Chase/AU, Opened 3/14: 0/5500

Elan, AU, Opened 6/2006: 0/12500

My last delinquency is 7 years ago, I have bad history is starting to fall off. About 6 judgments remaining and 1 tax lien on Equifax and Experian. All paid. No collections or charge offs.

I have had two previous secured Cards with Capital One and US Bank. Both with positive history but closed them when I got approved in March for unsecured cards. Dont know if the previous history would help with approval on a new card.

I am looking for something that will hopefully give me about a 2,000+ starting limit and 0% interest along with a bonus after spending so much. I plan on putting a portion of the engagement ring on a card to take advantage of 0% and points. Than paying the rest with cash. I like what Chase Freedom has to offer but I dont want another Inquiry if I can help it and get denied. Discover IT doesn't have bonus points but from what I read its a good card to get. And the 5% rotating rewards would be better than my 1-2% on Barclay.

Anyone have any idea's to point me to? I dont want a store card that I wont ever use again.

Pre Approval sites.

Discover; it
Chase, Nothing.
Citi, Simplicity
Capital One: Quicksilver at 17% and Prestige 14.9%. Would go with Quicksilver for the points. But only 1.5% back.
BOA: Nothing
US Bank: Us Perk+

Who is the best out of giving initial Credit limits and grow with you? From what I read Capital One can be kind of slow. Thanks everyone! If I am worried about points I think my best bet will probably be Discover and take advantage of the 5% back catagories. Right now its gas and next is online shopping. But I am unsure.

Theres no real telling on who would give a 2k limit immediately mianly because lenders are odd when it comes to limits in my opinion. However if you have a pre-approval for Discover you could give them a try. Otherwise i know a lot of places you can pay with multiple cards, so if you needed to pay a ring for 2k you could charge X amount on Barclays and then X amount on voyage which 2k would max them out which isnt the best. So i suggest you could try discover otherwise pay for the ring with multiple cards or find a cheaper ring

We are all scared of those terms of being denied or the minimum limit

I suggest try for Discover but if thats denied then personally hold off on Chase till maybe a pre-approval. Otherwise i know you dont want to hear this one but try cap1 QS1 even if you get the $300 limit after 6 statements of on time payments they will bump you up. Usually they will say its X amount you will get increased but it can be more.

The Quicksilver Does have a $100 bonus, so that is nice. Still something. Rewards at 1.5% on everyday purchases so if its not gas I am getting a half a percent more over Barclay, haha. Dont know if my previous history with Capital One on a secured card for a number of years would help with my initial limit or not. I honestly haven't put in much thought for them. I'll have to read up on how their auto love works.

The quicksilver one does not have the bonus which is the one where your minimum approval is 300. The regular Quicksilver has the bonus and can be a little harder to get.

I think my best bet is to App for the Discover, and if it works great I may app for the Freedom too. I REALLY want the Freedom but it might be to soon. I checked again the PreQualify site after looking at my reports to copy and paste my address in how it is on there and it came back saying I was opted out from pre screen offers. Now I am bugged even more because I dont know for sure what I got going on. And I do not think me being an AU on another Freedom card will help my chances or not.

And I am impatient. lol.

Opting out would definitely be a reason why no pre-approvals popped up. As for impatient i used to be the same way. If a denial comes up for either or both just look at it as, ok i still need a little improving to do. Its also only 1 or 2 inqs. and those fall off after 2 yrs but only affect your credit for 1 year. So not a huge deal.

I think with a TU over 700, and an Equifax depending on the score model they pull will be over 700 or just a couple points away from 700 i'll have a fighting chance. Anyone know if Chase pulls the older Equifax Model? If so I am over 700 there. I have no idea where I am at with Experian except it has the same tradelines as my other reports and a 701 FAKO on CreditSesame and they say I am most likely approved for the Chase Freedom. Which I'll take with a grain of salt, lol.

Going to think on it a little more. Thanks for your insight Skye!
