luv button finally available for Discover but...

Everytime I go for a CLI it does it's thing then states it needs further info, and wants to do a HP. Are there any reports of just trying for it, but cancelling before the HP and anyone still getting a CLI? Wasn't really wanting to get another HP at the moment. Also, do they counter like BoA or AMEX?

Try and see if it's available on the phone if so you can try and then cancel and you might or might not get CLI.

My CLI button online never works. But, I have called in twice since having it and received soft pull CLI 's that way. One was to 6k and the second to 10k. I was able to confirm with CS they would soft pull and had to ask before hard pull. Also, they stated they would counter.

just called the number and no option for CLI. even by pressing 4 for more options.

How old is your card?

I got the same problem and after a couple of weeks I'm looking again at the limit increase section. No phone option yet. Some say to check after 6th statement (only 4 for me).

i have that on mine also , but i did get an sp cli from them in june sometime. I had to go thru automated system.

Yea, I just went directly with a CSR. I think I just pressed 0. They asked a few questions and I was good to go.

The reps were super nice about it. I can truly say Discover is a place I do not dread calling into.

You just need to be patient i didn't get my sp cli until 10 months in, even tho my scores improved drastically.

In the past when I did a request, and then backed out (because of the HP language) I would get that language about a CLI request already being in process when I logged back in later. Then, tthey usally gave me a auto-CLI within a couple weeks of getting the message. Since probably January,2014 I have been following the info in this thread:

For me , when I have clicked the button (eligible every 3 mos) I get a message that says: This request may also require us to pull a credit bureau report, which may affect your credit score.

Then where I enter the amount it says: Enter the amount by which you would like to increase your credit line. Your cash line may be increased proportionally. This request will not affect your credit score.

I take this to mean a SP if instantly approved, a HP if not (or if I want more than the SP will allow). After you get the amount the SP will allow (or possibly a denial) it gives you the OPTION to request a HP if you want a higher increase. When doing it this way, I have not incurred a HP when requesting a CLI. However, I think i am conservative when it comes to my requests, I usually only ask fora small amount at a time.

I have gone from 7k-->8.5k-->11k-->15k since January with minimal (200 a month) use of the card. For the reason for request, I usually click the balance transfer option.

I am patient...lol. They told me when I got the card to try for a CLI at 3mos. I'm not upset about getting a CLI or not. Just curious about the process.

Great luck by calling the Discover telephone number on the back of the card and talked with the customer reps. They were informed by me no hard pull and I told them what I wanted. They asked a couple of questions and said the computer would offer a counter if it could not match my request. Went from $2250 to $5000 and then to $6500. No HP!
