Well, ladies and gents. I've just been FR'd

Logged into my account after being declined for a restaurant purchase. I saw it say "charging suspended, please call so and so if we haven't spoken to you already". Called in and I was told all my accounts are on hold and I'd need to spoke with a an account advisor or something or that sort via a number... The lady basically broke it down for me and told me that it was a financial review and they're going to need some information. I basically said I'd supply bank statements but if they request my tax returns, they can cancel my accounts. She says if have to call the account advisor tomorrow to find out what's needed from me.

Did they give you cause for why they FR you any suspicious charges ?

Amex would be the lender who does the FR

The cards are with Amex. All 5 of my accounts are now currently suspended. The reason is probably the GCs I purchased for work. I bought 6 GCs totally $3000. My boss let me purchase them because I informed her that id like the MR points

Weirdly enough, I did the same thing last year while my first account was only a couple of weeks old. I think the fact that the purchase came from out of the country and the amount did it in. I don't really mind the FR, but I won't give them anything more than bank statements

WHich Amex card did you use, PRG? $3K seems low (I buy $25-30K in gift cards each month), but if it is unusual for your spending pattern I guess it can get flagged.

I would agree. The purchase was deemed unusual spending behavior. Usually a FR, will suspend all cards until they have received and reviewed a 4506T. The key thing is whether or not you want them access to your tax returns. If you do not and have MR points those points are usually lost unless you can transfer them to a partner.

Understandable, it's a highly personal decision. Keybank asked me for all of that up front so I know it's not something to consider lightly.

Like Lexie pointed out look to get any MR points moved to a partner program. If they close your accts you will lose them.

yes, I charged it to me PRG. I was expecting to get the bonus on August 15th went my first statement closes. This is my first MR point based card. The others are just cash back and co branded cards

I hope they ask for bank statements because if they do ask for tax returns, that won't be happening. I guess this explains why my application for a platinum card was declined without an email. I usually get an email of the result.

You just applied for a plat card as well? It sounds like the 3k in spend at once plus applying for another card may have been what caused their concern. Was the 3k spend out of the ordinary for your normal spend patterns? I usually only get a $500 gift card in a cycle with amex because i'm paranoid with them.

I personally would never buy any Gift card with my Amex cards because I am paranoid with them.

Well... Before that, I charged 2k to the card to the card from delta.com and promptly paid it off before my trip. I'm not sure what the concern is for

IMO its not the charges that triggered it but the fact you wanted a 6th card from them.
