Closing AMEX Gold Charge Card

Dad got this card about 4 months ago and ran about $1,500, its going to report $0 by this 21st and wll close so this leaves us with 1,500 MR points and wil transfer them to Hilton Points bringing hilton points to a total of 44,761! Is this equivalent to at least 2 nights at a decent Hilton property?

I don't know, I have a hard time finding any free Hilton nights for less than 30,000 a piece. Why not keep the card for the full year, then downgrade or cut it?

Decent property? No. Maybe two nights at a tier 1-3 hotel, if you're lucky, maybe a low end tier 4 out of season.

There are 10 tiers of point redemptions.
