Downgrade/PC saga

Just thought it might be interesting to hear about everyone's downgrading experience - to avoid annual fee or to get better rewards/spend pattern. It might also be interesting to hear about different restrictions on product change or downgrading.

I can tell you from my experience chase will deny a first year downgrade.

So got sapphire preferred - tried to downgrade the first annual fee year and they stated no, but I could close and reapply. Kept the card and next year was able to successfully downgrade.

Ink Plus - Same thing but still in first year and they refused the downgrade

AMEX was very easy to work with when I wanted to downgrade ~ I apped for Platinum Charge Card, then downgraded to Green, then downgraded to Zync. All within a few weeks, it was no hassle at all.

With a card like CSP I would've applied for CS and transferred my CSP limit over and closed.

As for my experience, I was able to PC my Delta Amex to BCE (many other options were available but I don't remember which ones.)

Tried to PC my AMEX charge card but had to wait 13 months after open date. So I just closed because I honestly didn't need it.
