topic Schwabs :( in Credit Cards

Schwabs :(

I opened a Schwabs checking accounts yesterday, and they pulled my credit report. After doing some research, it appears that a few people have also experienced this. Can this disputed? I can't believe I just got a hard pull for a checking account. Ughhh!

Nope, sorry but they aren't the only financial institution that inserts a hp for banking. DCU, NFCU are the two that come to mind

alliant does as well, when i open an checking account i always ask.

Your spade is secure. We allow HP's for banking, insurance, utilities etc.

Woo hoo. I am just a little upset since I only had two inquiries on EQ, and those two would have fallen off in less than a year.

That's true. I am on the phone with their verification department. Maybe I get a nice agent who is willing to remove the inquiry. If not, I'll just accept it.

Not an lot of cc pull eq so thats good news i suppose unless you are going for something like mortgage or auto loan then thats another story. Schwab checking is nice tho don't you get interest and can with draw from any atm on this earth with no fees?

That's correct! That's why I wanted it. I, at times, find myself pulling money from random ATM's when I cannot use my credit cards.

But, I called a guy at Schwabs. He said he's going to get a manager to call me back to see if they convert the HP to a SP. He said to not get my hopes up, but he'll try.

haha yeah. It's worth it. I just had never heard of a bank needing to do a credit pull for a checking account. We all learn something new everyday.

yep oh well :-) i need to do some research on it to make sure fidelity doesn't hp on CMA accounts. I am probably going to get an fidelity amex card some time down the road.

When I opened my CMA, no HP.

I've been recently opening a number of accounts at B&M banks. Generally, you avoid HPs by not going for "overdraft protection" but some internet banks will always HP for the basic account anyway.

On a side note: You said you called their customer service to see what they can do about the inquiry...

How freaking outstanding are their CSR's?!?!

IMO, Schwab is worth the HP above and beyond!
