Temporary Credit Line?

I applied and was approved (yay!) for a Hilton Amex last night with a "temporary credit line of $1000."

Does anyone know what this means? Does it mean it may actually have a higher limit when the welcome papers arrive, or...?

USAA Federal Savings Bank does the same thing by offering a $1,000 temporary CL and then when the card comes you get the official CL like $8,000 for me several years ago. So, I would guess AX does the same thing.

Could be. FWIW, my husband had a temporary limit of $3000 when he was approved recently, but after the card was activated it went up to $10,000. You should be able to call to find out your limit.
