Mythbusters.... Amex 3x CLI Edition

Hi all, just wanted to share a data point that is contrary to MOST info you find on this subject when researching the Amex 3x CLI.

Acct opened 6/30

Initial credit limit 10k

3x CLI requested online at day 63 on a Sunday on a holiday weekend

Spend put through the card in those 63 days was $1200.00

Payments were made as I made charges, if the website allowed I pulled payment from my linked checking account, if not I pushed payments from alternate checking account.

So if I charged 50 bucks, I paid 50 bucks same day or next day, largest single charge was $188.00

The last charge I made was approx at day 50 when I met minimum spend to get bonus. Bonus posted to my account very quickly.

I shopped at Walmart, online pet food, grocery, gas, lowes, vet clinic, Target, directv bill payment, att cell bill payment.

Request full 3x instant approval to 30k

No 4506T or additional documentation required. This is my only Amex

Congrats! Really nice! I will add my stats in October, when I go for mine. Will not be nearly as much though.

Forgot to report 0% utilization on this card at time of CLI, across all credit lines was 3%.

That thread shows Trends of What Amex does ... Just because you didn't get asked for a 4506T doesn't mean nobody else will. It is called a guide and from most accounts Amex will ask for it. Same goes for other things like Manufactured spending. MS is a no-no for Credit cards But there is probably people who do it a lot and never get into trouble while there is people who has gotten in trouble for doing it

I dont think its contrary to more recent postings on there though, seems pretty inline with what people are reporting lately. Congrats on the CLI!

Yeah the over 25k causing fr issues is not set in stone. A big wig where I work has a 50k credit line, spends close to that each month and has never had a fr.

I agree it is just a guide. I a couple of months ago my EDP went to just over 31.2k. No FR plus It wouldn't be a FR more like a AR.

I have frequently done MS with Amex over the past year to the tune of 20-30k without issues. In fact, when I call Amex they always say your accounts are in excellent standing. Should they have a problem with MS in the future, no problem. They can close the cards since I only have a combined credit limit of 15k on four cards and the PRG has a current spending ability of 40k. It wouldn't be the end of the world in my case. Granted Amex has denied my a cli the last two times that I've applied. Again, no problem there either.

Once again They can Close cards because of MSing.... Just because you don't doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Just because OP didn't get asked for forms for a CLI doesn't mean they don't ask for it. Generally censuses says you have a higher risk of getting asked when going above 24k. Msing is do at your own risk. As far as No Forms it is all YMMV

Lol, that's ironic, everybody hopes to avoids the dreaded FR or 4506T as intrusive. I have no problem sharing, my income is zero. Uncompensated unofficially retired since 2009. Household income however is a smidge over 100k.
