Discover Blacklist?

How long does Discover Blacklist for? I have a account from 3 years ago that went into collection. Any chance i can get back with them in the near future?

Their pre-qual site isn't exactly the best gauge. I have tried and they say that I'm eligible but ends up declined

i had a discover charge off ~$7500 back in '02, i was able to get back with them in '12. I believed they sold my CO (unpaid to this day) to a collection agency as I don't recall ever getting calls from them in the past. Too bad Amex blacklists I screwed myself there.

I had two CO accounts them with balances totaling ~$12K. They sued me to collect and I declared BK shortly thereafter. This was back in 2005. I was denied a few months ago with a 687 EQ pulled and the reason they cited was "bankruptcy." So I think they have a long memory.

Hmm. I might have to try Discover once my BK falls off, then. As for AMEX, I closed them in a snit over my small CL quite some time before my BK. Thank goodness!

If you paid Discover you would not be on their blacklist.

I read that Discover is forgiving and that their have been approvals of folks that have CO and BK them.

I got approved with a 5yr BK, I also burned them back in the late 90's, so they are forgiving. Give 'em a shot!

There's hope! I had a CO back in 2001. Didn't try to app because of the blacklist rumors. Thanks for sharing! Will put them on my future CC list.

Would Discover be willing to open up again to someone who burned them in about 2008 for at least $8,000 in bankruptcy? (not paid back)

Anything is possible with a variety of lenders. Some blacklists may last longer than others for some individuals but there's anecdotal evidence that some folks can eventually re-establish those relationships whether paid/unpaid COs or IIB.

I think it depends on the progress they made in their credit rebuilding. They will look at credit established, payment pattern, and utilization.

my friend got discover about 8 years after bk but i know many that get in much much sooner. just depends.
