I recently applied for the Delta Gold 08/08/2014, and was instantly approved. However, I have since noticed that there is a superior offer of 50,000 bonus miles versus 35,000. Has anyone tried calling amex to get the new, and better offer? Starting Credit Line $10,000.00, which is more than enough.

Yes I did the same thing. That really sucks! When I called in they woud not let me.

You could always applys for a Chase United Exploer card and get 50K miles on United. Interstingly, Chase rolled out the 50K mileage promo and AMEX quickly matched.

You could always applys for a Chase United Exploer card and get 50K miles on United. Interstingly, Chase rolled out the 50K mileage promo and AMEX quickly matched.

there are an bunch of tempting offers for 50k signup bonus cards off top of my head citi AA, Chase United , and Amex Delta

Agreed. It's happened to me two times and both were met with a strong "No." It never hurts to ask though.

Yeah I got approved like 2 days before they changed the bonus offer to 35k.

How far would 50k get me ?

NO idea how these mileage points work.

For reference, 50k miles would get me from NYC to Seattle and back plus a ~$25 surcharge.

It cost me 77500 miles for a delta ticket from CLT to CDG last spring break. The cost of the ticket was over $1200-$1500
