Too bad you have to be a member for the Sams Club card. Unless you have it already its basically your annual fee

Wish the Costco Amex TE was 5% gas and 3% dining. Maybe they'll buckle under the pressure. I may consider changing teams as we rarely shop inside Costco, but do take advantage of their gas pricing which is the lowest around before rewards. Sam's gas price is almost exactly the same.

I don't get the excitement about the double rewards. Citi's 2 x 1% is still 2% and many other common cards puts it to shame. Marketing hype?

Next time i swing thru Owensboro Kentucky i know just where to go. Funny, i used to have a Sam's Club membership and let it run out. Then again they didn't have this sweet offer before.LoL

The Amex Costco TE cash back award certificate must be redeemed at Costco, but you can redeem it for cash at any register (no purchase necessary). I wonder if the Sam's Club check can be redeemed for cash at Sam's Club registers?

From a quick google search, it seems that a one day pass is free, however anything you buy will have a 10% upcharge to it for not being a member. However, I am not sure if this also applies to just redeeming your cash back at the register.

That language may be in there for those people who let their membership go, but still need to redeem their cash back from when their card was active.

You can always join, get the card, then quit the membership - 100% refund if done in 30 days and prorated after that. Once you have the card, the membership isn't needed. I was a Sam's Club member, got the store card and have since let my membership expire. Sam's Club store credit works just fine in Wal-Mart even though I'm expired.

Cash back rewards are forfeited if the Sam’s Club MasterCard account is not in good standing, if the Sam’s Club Membership terminates or lapses, or if the Cash Back earned in a calendar year is less than $5.00.
