My wife was added to 2 cc's of a family member. In order for these companies to report on her cr's does she actually have to use the cards or do the report automatically because of her beening added to the accounts? So far nothing has been reported on her cr on either of these 2 cc acounts. Anyone have a similar situation that can shed some light on this subject?

Update or not lol

Both Lowes and Wells Fargo accounts have closed out for the month and apparently aren't going to report my wife as AU on these accounts. Would it be stupid to call and ask why they haven't reported or just leave it alone?

AU accounts are treated the same as if the account were your own (for now, anyway). If the account helps, it will help you. If it hurts, it will hurt you.

You inherit all the history on an AU account, good and bad.

Your wife does not have to use the cards - the accounts will/should show up on her file when the creditors report.

I added my sister to my 2 AMEX cards and she realized a 56 point jump.

Being an AU is a good thing - provided the account(s) you are being added to are good accounts (low utility, long history, etc.)

Funny thing about that AU stuff. I recently added my wife as AU to BoA account (low utilization, excellent payment history). She's new in the country, never had a SS# before - and her immigration status (no work authorization, "dependent visa") makes her ineligible to get one. But all my history of payments on that account was immediately transferred to her file (how do they even start a file without SS#?) and she's getting much better credit offers in mail than I do, while being unable to apply because of no SS#. :-)
