I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions in getting a credit line increase from Chase Amazon rewards? I have had it since 2008, never late but always a 400 CL. Can't really use it since it's so easy to get my ratios all jacked on it. I have a monthly subscription to gym that charges to it and I pay it before the statement cuts. I've called twice for a CLI but they want a HP and I'm in the middle of buying a house. Has anyone seen a ACLI from these guys or should I just put it in water and freeze it?

yeah unless chase sends you offer to get a cli or does it on their own, a request for cli will always be a hp.

many find it better to just apply for a new chase card and than move some or all the cl from the new account to the old account.

but doesn't sound like now is good for those options while buying house.

In fact this is a problem with a lot of myFICOers.

No analyst makes decision by credit score alone. Credit score is just a calculated number. It says very little about ones credit profile.

Just take that HP already. I doubt retention depertment will help you here, since they offer rewards and/or statement credit to keep you from closing account, not CLI.

After your house closes,

Asses your card as keeper or not, if you want to keep it then you might...

App for one of their cards that has minimum credit line(of say 5000), like the CSP or Marriott rewards, or United Plus. This will take a HP. Wait for the card to cycle a few months then you can do one of two things, you can do a Whole Line Consolidation or partial line consolidation. Whole line consolidation will result in the loss of 500$ of existing credit as that is the minimum close out for this process and closure. But that's ok because you are gaining on the line you want, which is the point.

Or

If your card is not better than the card you did the new app for and you want to upgrade it (like CSP), then you can request to do the whole line consolidation from your existing card to the new card after approval, and this can be done immediately no waiting period. You will still loss 500$ in avail credit on the card closing out but the point is to raise the line. so.

I have another month or so to go on my MR card and I plan on requesting whole line consolidation to my CSP. I will put a few small charges through it in the meantime however. And, I am not going to do the minimum spend because i think it may complicate the request/and or look bad for future applications. For now I am just working on my CSP line, due to its ability to transfer out points to almost anywhere.

Good Luck!

I've never found a credit simulator to come anywhere close to estimating what my actual credit score has done. A mortgage on your credit report is probably one of the best things you can have on there.

If the Amazon card bugs you that much (it would bother me $400 limit for 6 years!!??), call retention and tell them you will be putting all your spend on Barclays Sallie Mae unless they give you a useful limit. If they refuse, I'd just close it and get the latter for better rewards.

Thank you all for your responses. I didn't even know that you could combine credit lines etc. I am having some eye-opening times on this forum. lol I am trying to get my game plan together for when the house does close. I am so sick of this amazon card. it's a pain in my tail pipe to have it just beacuse it's another payment to make. lol I feel like I am in limbo waiting for the house to go through. How long after you close on a house can you apply for say, a Home Depot Card to get appliances?
