FNBO Prime All the Time? Anyone else get this offer?

My husband got a preapproved offer from FNBO for prime rate. "Your APR will always be the Prime Rate published in The Wall Street Journal".

He already did an app spree about a month ago and really doesn't need another card, BUT, it'd be crazy NOT to app for this one right?

We already have the mortgage and the car, so it's not like he's going to be using credit anytime soon where inquiries matter.

That seems like a pretty great offer if it's for the life of the card. FNBO is also great with soft pull CLIs.

I got that offer too. There was a 89 dollars annual fee

Sounds like a good offer if there's no AF or you don't mind paying it. I have a couple of CU cards with no rewards that I hold onto just for the low APR just in case I ever need to carry a balance.

Interesting. So you would have to decide how likely it is that you need to use it, how much you would save vs your current cards, and also, if you really DID need it,, e.g. after job loss, what are the chances of FNBO CLDing you as scores tank

My FNBO-backed Amex was just closed. My scores are going upwards, my utilization steady or down, but due to new accounts/inquiries (still waiting for the official letter), my account was completely closed.

A few years ago they "suspended" my charging privileges on an account. I replied that I'd save them the time, and closed it instead of waiting to see if I was good enough in six months.

I don't trust FNBO anymore. Polite service, but nothing like having the rug pulled out from under you.
