Not sure if I should clasify this as a rant or a fear, or a fallback option.

Currently in the garden, and on very good terms with Synchrony and their cards (Lowe's card at $12,000 CL, Walmart store at $8,000 and Amazon at $2,100).

My Germand Shepherd seems to have an apparent leg injury. He won't put any weight on his rear left leg, and his ACL might be torn (hopefully it's just a partial tear if any tear at all, those CAN heal themselves with limited activity). It could be a number of other injuries, but we're leaning towards ACL the way he's acting. Won't know anything til we see a vet, luckily the local vet is about a half mile from our home. A good friend of mine just had to put his 1.5 year old GSD the other day and that thought lingering just isn't helping seeing my dog like this.

I'm not sure if I should apply for the CareCredit card when I'm not even sure it's necessary at this point. Should I just wait til we know what's going on with the vet bill?

Just very flustered right now and worried for my buddy. Gave him a small dose of pain killer and he's finally not panting anymore (usually signifies significant pain) so that makes me feel better for now! He's in his safe spot (his kennel) just sleeping for the last few hours.

Thanks for any help in advance.

You can use Care Credit the same day you're approved. They send you an actual card, but when you're approved, you can print out a temp card or number (forget exactly what it was) to use asap.

Kind of curious to know what limit they'll approve you for with your current GE/Synch limits. Care Credit really seems to be the easiest account to get, and whatever limit you ask for, their answer seems to be, "SURE!"

Anyway good luck. Hope it doesn't turn out to be too serious with your buddy.

That's what I was wondering (about the initial CL I'd get), if it doesn't turn out to be a card I need at this point, that's great, maybe sometime in the future I'll get one, just to have it in the back pocket "in case" something like this was to come up

Thanks for the kind words!

wow. sad for your buddy as he can't tell you where the pain is. at least you observed it for yourself.

Best to wait and see what the vet says. if the limit from care credit is low. to begin. after approval you can call and say im at vet office right now. they will usually give you more than enough in that case to cover full cost. even had 1 rep ask. are you at the dentist office. i said. yes. im sitting in chair with a bunch of marbles in my mouth. they then gave me 5x the starting limit. so i would not worry of it.

When I got Care Credit at the time I think my highest limit on cards was $700. Following the advice on here I asked for $5000 for me at the time asking for the impossible. I got an instant approval. That was my stepping stone for higher CLs and quality cards. Be sure to ask for way more than you need because CLIs are HPs. Good Luck to you and your puppy!

I would say wait to apply for care credit. Take him to the vet. See what they have to say about it. It's just an inital office visit. They will palpate the leg and such and feel the knee. What type of "pain killer" did you give him if aspirin that's a big no. Acl tears can heal but it's just scar tissue and he will still limp. And there's still a 75% that if it is a acl tear they will blow out the other knew within a year. If you take him to the vet and it is Infact acl tear apply for care credit and decide from that approval if you want the surgery down. Idol where you live. And what the vets are like. But plan if you want surgery at 1500-3000 a peice on each knee. I'm 2nd year vet student and a get tech as well. if you have any more questions feel free to pm me.

Little update on Duncan, he's bearing weight on his leg, and doesn't seen to be in nearly as much pain. He ate a full meal today as well as his daily dose of treats! Pooped and peed as normal but he does favor that leg just a little! He doesn't look "depressed" today as he did last night. Very lovey again and it warms my heart!

I gave him "Aspirin free" medication last night in a slice of cheese per my cousins advice (who is a vet in Chicago). I live in north central IL, for reference of vet specialists. We're gonna call the vet tomorrow when they open, as he seems to be doing much better today!

Appreciate all the advice and kind words! More love for this site!
