BankAmericard Cash Rewards - Regular vs Visa Signature

Hi, I recently increased my BankAmericard credit line from $2k to $10k. It was suggested to me that I upgrade my cash rewards to the Visa signature version. I also heard that it won't report to the credit line. Any advice or suggestions? Is it worth the upgrade?

Just FYI, the CL will report. Previously, BoA did not report any Signature CLs.

Excellent! That's what I was worried about. I was told that Visa signature has a lot of benefits but that BoA would report only my highest balance instead of the credit line so it would hurt my utilizaton and make my card appear to be maxed out.

This is an old thread Maine. But BofA does in fact report the limit for VS.

It reports CL, and there's not much difference in terms benefits. The VS has the following. This is a complete list.

• Purchase Protection
• Extended Protection
• Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
• Common Carrier Travel Accident Insurance
• Travel and Emergency Assistance
• Roadside Dispatch

I recently found another benefit that I probably won't ever use, but then again just may. There are some benefits if you book a hotel in their 'collection' (or whatever). Things you'd expect if you were a rewards club member for a chain like room upgrade if available, $X gift upon arrival, free breakfast (or credit towards a meal), late checkout etc. Not earth shattering and not all things you can depend on, but nonetheless worth checking if you have a VS and are thinking about booking a nice hotel and don't have that particular club (and some seem more like one-off properties). I may test out a night or two up in Sonoma/Napa this summer. (I also then went and checked for a similar thing on WEMC and read there, so I could be conflating the two. But VS had a larger list of properties where I was looking and there were more reasonable ones, where the WMC were mostly more pricey.)
