Airline credits for Prestige & Platinum

Hello All!! I have heard you can purchase Airline gift cards using the "credit" you get with these cards for "flight incidentals" BUT does anyone know if you can purchase MILES instead of Gift Cards and have it credit as "incidentals"? Thanks

Not exactly the answer you are looking for, but it is worth noting once the Prestige changes go into effect this october, the credit can be used for airfare outright. No jumping through hoops needed to use it up.

I have not run across blogs, FT, etc. of people stating that they have redeemed airline credit that way. I believe most of the airlines buy points programs go through points.com. so I'm not sure if it will be automatically reimbursed. I just bought some Alaska miles from their site because they're having a big bonus and noticed the merchant listed on my cc as "Points Alaska Miles".

Maybe I'll have to try it as a little experiment

True H14 what I was thinking is finishing up my $200 credit before Oct. because the $250 credit will hit....thought points was cooler than gift cards.....LOL

Thanks dilettante.....you have a great point, if the charge comes in as points.com then no credit because it is not from the airlines....so THAT is the reason for gift cards over points!!
