Discover changed menu?

So i noticed an unsual charge on my Discover and decided to call and before it was just a instant answer. Now its offering a menu, did they change this?

edit: Unsual charge figured out - i pumped gas and usually stations put a $1.00 charge for a hold....well this station decided to put a $75.00 hold. In my opinion thats a bit excessive and double what i pumped.

Yeah depending on what gas station you goto they can put hold on your cards, it annoying but you never get charged so it not a big deal to me. There are some gas stations that put holds on your card up to ninety nine dollars

On Amex, they like to hold $100. To avoid it in the future, go in and prepay if you are concerned about going over your CL. If not, the auth usually drops off in 48-72 hours.

I don't think it's a bad practice as one have to see it from both perspectives. If you were the owner and then later find out that the card didn't went through. If I were a gas business owner, I would put at least from 50 to 80 to save those funds. I don't mind them doing that to me either because my CL 90% of the time are really good and I do not have to be concerned of reaching the maximum CL

I called Disc earlier tonight and was also met with a menu and a long wait time to reach a CSR. I'm hoping this isn't a new norm now, as their amazing customer service is one of the few things that sets them apart. It just might have been that way due to it being a Sunday night, perhaps.

I don't know if it's new but I like it, because I prefer the automated line. FYI If you press "0" it will send you straight to an account manager. Just an extra step.

oh i tried pressing 0 and it still made me do the automated system

That's weird. Are you calling the number on the back of your card? (1-800-347-3085)

What is it asking for after you press 0? It may just want your account info so the CSR can help you faster.

yeah the number on the back and it just gives me the automated system of a menu and my balance...etc. when pressing 0

I've noticed with many a'company, if you get an automated system and just pound the poop out of the 0 button, and answer all the questions wrong, you'll get connected to a CSR ASAP.

Or even worse, you put all the info and then CSR asked your for the same, transfer you and they keep asking the same over and over.... I hate that lol
