How accurate is card match?

I've been logging on to the card match site the past few months. At first, only regular cap 1 cards came up. Last month, the QS popped up. Last night, AMEX showed up. Has anyone apped for something card match suggested and got it? Especially AMEX Everyday? Thanks!

Told me I was not qualified for anything and I got my AMEX's a few days later along with my Sallie Mae. I'd say its not that accurate but YMMV. Try going to the individual lenders pre-qualify tools to see a somewhat more accurate result. Just my 2 cents.

I haven't heard CM is horrible. If they say you are pre-qual, you will likely get the card.

However, for the Amex, I would check their website's pre-qual site. Assuming the CM offer is not any better than the public one AE offers, I would apply directly through AE.

Note: CreditKarma, pre-qual'd me for the ED/EDP cards with a better sign bonus than the public one I received. They just gave me the offer a couple of days after I app'd for the AE card. If you have CK account, it might be wise to carefully review what they offer, too. Note, most of the CK offers are just marketing tools, they are not pre-qual offers so be careful.

I usually don't count that sort of issue (where no card is found) against the site. It may be they haven't done a recent check in your area/credit score range etc. More important is what happens when a "preapproval" does appear.

In your case, did you also try the Amex preapproval site once card match showed nothing?

I did check Amex site, but it doesn't seem to be a pre-qual, just rather a recommendation. It didn't ask for my last 4 of my social, so they would have no idea if I'm qualified. Maybe I clicked on the wrong section of the site.

I'm really tempted because when it showed I was most likely to get the Everday card, I nearly peed my pants! Haha. All jokes aside, that's my dream card!

Scared to death

Ok so I have had some deals over the years and in the process of rebuilding my credit. I have two CapOne Cards with 25% utilization but would like to apply for another, maybe Walmart. Im scared of the denial and the hard hit on my report. Should I just say screw it and take the chance?

How many inquiries? Any baddies? Walmart was very easy for me to get on my rebuilding journey. I didn't think I'd be approved and said to hell with it... Instant approval. They took my TU report, which had probably 5 Inq, making them 6. They don't seem to be inquiry sensitive.

Clear out your browser's cookies or use a different browser. Go to AE's website. Click on View All Cards. Near the top, there should be a banner that says "View All 21 American Express Cards Check for Pre-Selected Offers".

The next screen ask for your name, addr, last four social, etc. If you are looking for the ED/EDP card, I would select Reward Points.

I cleared out my cookies, went to a different browser, clicked on all 21 cards, but it only says "compare cards". Nothing about offers. Thanks for the help!

Well dang. AE does funny things when they think they know who you are. In my case, the button for "Check for Pre-Qualified Offers" shows up when I use IE. I never login into my CC accounts using IE.

However, it doesn't show up when I use FF (I login to my AE account using FF). With FF, they label the card I have as mine and don't have as good of sign up offers, even when I am not logged in.

Perhaps you can try a different computer? I think you are just not seeing the pre-approval link because of a bug with American Express' website. You should see the button.

What you may try is logging on amex site via incognito mode. You should see the pre approval link. FWIW I don't get any pre approvals from amex.

I tried igcognito, no go. So I went onto my computer on IE and you're right... It did say preselected offers! It said it couldn't find any offers for me, but all the sites say that for me for some reason. Barclays, nothing.... Approved. Same with Cap1. I feel like my opt in/out is not working, though I know I've opted in. My Fico as of a few days ago was 716.
