Amazon store card credit limit

I no longer use this card (maybe I'll use it again someday) but I just wanted to get a CLI last week and got the following letter in the mail. There was no hard inquiry and my FICO scores were above 800 at the time of CLI request. Does anyone have a much higher CL than $4600? If you have a $10k+ limit on this card, when and how did you get it?

GE CAPITAL RETAIL BANK has recently reviewed your request to increase the credit line on your Amazon.com Store Card Account. We are not able to assign the credit line you requested because it exceeds the amount of increase our policy allows.

That's weird. I know they go higher because mine is $7000. Have you tried calling a backdoor number talking directly to a credit analyst?

Layered, did you try the backdoor number after you got the letter? Since it's a GE card, and I have a few, I'm always trying to get CLI's. And it seems that when I use the online request I always get denied so I just call in for it. As for others getting above $10K limits, yes I have read of some cases but they had to call in to the UW to get it. I'm not sure of the length of time they had the cards but one guy for sure said that he rarely used it and still got it!!

No call 877-379-8173 and explain you need a higher limit . I always get declined using the automated or online forms. I just call the backdoor.

I have this card my limit is $1100. They just declined me for an increase because they say I haven't had enough experience at my current line. They bumped it up from $900 to $1100 2 months ago. Would the backdoor number help me out? I want a 2k line with them at least.. 718 Fico TU. That is the bureau they use. As to the max on this card I have no idea it maybe it depends on your account's portfolio when it was opened. Like I had a $3000 Jc penney card from Ge before bk and they said it was the max for that card program yet people say they have higher limits there. Weird.

My JCP is at 4900... amazon is at 2400.

I think their program only allows a certain % increase per CLI

I have had a $15,000 credit limit for over 3 years now. I just called today and requested an increase. The person I talked to asked me my income from last year and what limit I would like. I told her I made $90,000 last year and I would like a limit of $30,000. She punched in the numbers and I was instantly approved for the requested amount. I have high 700's in FICO. Maybe I should have asked for more, but I didn't want to get denied. I'm wondering how high the limit can go, and I asked her, but she had no idea. She told me it's on a case by case basis when they punch the numbers in.

I had to get my card out of my desk drawer. Not a card necessary to wallet. It's a silly storecard with huge APR. Only needed if you want to buy big ticket item on interest free terms. If you need to make a single purchase of more than your limit, I'm pretty sure you could get an instant CLI.

Mine says to click for increase, but I don't see any need at this time.

@gxcue can you verify with a screenshot that you have a $30,000 Amazon Store card credit line, not the Amazon Discover card. Highest Amazon Store ONLY (not the Amazon Discover Card) CL I've found anywhere online is $15K, so $30K is like seeing a unicorn. Thanks

i called in yesterday and asked for a CLI .... I had 800 and was surprised when they told me I was approved for more. I told them I was looking to buy a Bugatti Veyron as a one time no interest purchase... they agreed and raised my limit.

It is that time of year when I try to get my CLs increased. I just did one card for a $4,000 increase and the other for a $10,000 increase. All my FICOs are around 750-760. I just asked Amazon (via chat) for a CLI and was denied. I am currently at $4000 with them and have never asked for an increase before. they bumped me from $1700 to $4000 about 5 years ago after I had the account for about 4 months. I pay the balance in full every month unless it is an interest free offer and I use the card all the time. I will never exceed the 4 grand but a CLI is always nice. I am surprised at the denial.

Any suggestions on why I was denied?

IME, I can't recall seeing anyone post a GECRB CL that exceeded $29,000. Member experience on this board has firmly established overall exposure at ~$100K for GECRB/SyncB (in some cases, much lower).

Actually I've confirmed on CB.com in weekly updated postings that the high on any GE/Sync card is $35,000 CL and on Amazon it's $30K (been verified) but that CL could also be $35K I imagine just haven't confirmed it and the $100K mark could be off by $20K. UW's have told others its $120K exposure not $100K. So it's somewhere in between those numbers.

That's very interesting. The $100K is pretty set based on member experience here; however, the membership here does't necessarily reflect the entire credit population. So it's probably not too far above $100K, as you've seen evidenced outside this forum. I'll amend my prior post.

GE/Sync does vary. The LUV button won't take people past certain CLs, but higher CLs exist throught auto-CLIs or the intervention of Credit Solutions.

Sadly most members on MyFico are not members on CB.com or other great credit boards with even more members, case studies and information. I use them all and then compile the data/research and share on both sites. The ONLY max CL exposure numbers I've ever seen on any boards is either $100K or $120K, no other numbers seen of any kind. So I'm pretty sure it's in between $100K-$120K for sure.
