It wasn't for me

I applied for the Citi Diamond only cause they prequalified me at 9.9% Then I got the big denial, lol.

Was that from the site? Or mailer?

Wife got a mailer for this card. 12mos 0% purchase, balance transfers and 17.99 APR thereafter. Applied and instantly approved with both EX and EQ pulled.

FICOs were 690 and 699 respectively

Depends on your profile. How many INQs in last 6 months. If I recall Citi doesnt want more than 1 or 2. Someone else may be able to confirm.

New accounts in last year? Less the better.

To many variables to give a idea.

I honestly think all these Pre-Qual letters you mean is that you are in the score range for approval. From there they look closer at your profile.

So if your score is the same or better, Util is good, and nothing bad has happened or no new accounts/new INQs since that PreQual SP, then you may be good to go.

INQs were 10+ on both EX, EQ when Wife was approved.

Personally i dont think Citi pre-qual is very reliable. I get every mailer possible from them and when i go to the website it always changes their offers. I was once offered their lowest APR for simplicity and website gave me the highest APR offered....for me it changes all the time.

EX for partner

I don't get pre-qual for citi!

but have helped some friends do it... not sure the pulls but assume EX

Both of my prequals and offers have been golden.

Both times Citi double pulled EX and EQ. I live in California.

Actually, I think there must have been a glitch in the system when I applied. The pre-qual was online but as soon as I hit the "submit" button, the site crashed on me. I called and recon'd to learn my denial.

22.9% is more realistic as I think I was pre-qualified for 9.9% as a mistake. I had my other Citi card for 2 months and had 20% utilization on that card - Simplicity to be exact. But I have a very thin file - I should have known better

I just checked pre qual link for kicks, and i noticed that every single card they pre qual for me was 22.99 apr. I would hope with my credit that i could get better apr than that.
