AMEX CLI help

Here's the deal: I did a CLI request for 30k and it countered with 18.4k. I declined. Then I requested 25k, and it countered with 22k. I accidentally went back on the browser so I did it again and it declined me. Got the email saying this:

We cannot increase the credit limit of a Card within six months of increasing the credit limit on another American Express Card.

Well, I don't have another revolver..and I didnt get an increase so I dont know what gives.

What does the verbatim say? Is it 6 months or 180 days? Because my 6 months would be tomorrow, but 180 days would have been September 30th, 2014.

But if I wasnt eligible, it wouldnt have countered me, right?

I'm confused...thoughts anyone?

So you can go back and forth with Amex when they counter on CLI? I didn't know that...interesting.

Well, i formally declined it, and went right back and tried again.. Should have accepted the 22k lol. I'm kicking myself. Although I don't know why it would email me saying I'm not eligible, even though it countered me.

I'd call CSR and explain what happened, maybe you can get the 22 offer back.

I'm going to try Saturday and see what happens..

Can anyone else chime in if they've experienced this?

I did call CSR and they said call back on the 4th and we'll try for another one. But then why would it even counter me in the first place.. I was obviously eligible.. That's why I'm confused.

Just checked my account and my new line says 22k! Wow.. Just weird cuz I didn't accept or deny.. But I'll take it!

What was the time difference between you asking for $30K and you asking for $25K? Just surprised you got different counters!

Sounds like browser issues and there's really no telling for certain what happened. We can speculate endlessly but you'll just have to wait and see what the acutal status is.

The 3x CLI thread has the details you're looking on 6 months or 180 days. IIRC it's the latter.

I wonder if I should try for the 3xCLI on my AMEX BCE. Shock and I have the same CLI Birthdays! We both got our last CLI from AMEX on April 3, 2014.....Can anyone chime in on advice....I always PIF before cut date.....but I have about $240.00 balance and my cut date is on Oct 12th.

In my experience, it's not gonna matter whether you have a balance or not, or before /after statement cut. It's when they last soft you.. So if you don't know that for sure you could be waiting up to an additional 30 days.. Not fun!

Another speculation could have been that a new SP was made during the 5 minute time spread. Probability is low but could happen.

One time more score was 765 in the morning and later on CR update moved the fico to 780 by evening.
