Orbitz Visa ups the ante with 4% Orbucks on gas and groceries

So I have an Orbitz visa (by comenity) and got this mailer today - 4x Orbucks on gas and groceries for October. For those unfamiliar, the card itself gives 5% back in the form of "Orbucks" for all purchases on Orbitz, 2% everywhere else. The Orbucks earned through the card never expire, but are only usable on hotel bookings on Orbitz. You can redeem for any amount on any booking.

For gas and grocery purchases in October, card holders will now earn 4% in Orbucks rather than 2%. Funny thing is I received this mailer on the same day I got my Citi Double Cash (PC from Dividend). Orbitz still won't get my gas purchases (because you cannot beat TE's 3% back on COSTCO gas!), but 4% back on groceries ain't bad for a no AF card, even if it's just for a month.

I wanted to apply for orbitz visa card, but their reward is only for orbitz website. well I do use orbitz quite often but since the rewards are only for hotel (only selected hotels), card is kinda sucky.

You can use it for any hotel booked and paid for through Orbitz though - the only ones you can't use Orbucks on are the ones that you pay at the point of arrival, not at the point of booking. Not that many hotels in that list on Orbitz. But yeah, I agree they could increase the value of the card in the order of magnitudes just by opening up to all bookings on Orbitz and not just hotels.
