What should my next major card be?

I currently have Chase Sapphire Preferred, AMEX BCP, Discover It, Chase Freedom, Barclay Arrival World+, Citi Diamond Preferred, and Capital One QuickSilver. What should I apply for next? I have been thinking about the AMEX EDP.

Selecting a card is always about finding what suits the individual -- not about the cards. You'd need to provide a lot more information on what you're looking for, what's deficient with your current line up, why you're consdering the EDP, etc.

Define the need then find a card that fits that versus going about it backwards and finding a card and trying to justify it.

I don't know if you travel a lot but if you do the AMEX Platinum is a good card.. you get your $100 back for Global Entry, $200 yearly credit in airline fees - and many say they've been able to buy gift certificates and used them for actual tickets thereby effectively reducing the yearly fee by $200, you get Priority Pass for lounge access all over the world which costs $250 or so by itself.. and other perks as well. But as others have said, it actually depends on you.. there's no such thing as a good card for every person, I don't think.

Flat rate cash back cards

Only if the rate is very high! Currently, the best I know is 4-5% (Amex Blue Cash with debit cards) but those that value some UR (or MR/SPG) redemptions at 3c+, and getting 2 UR on some transactions (and 5 on others) will want a lot higher before giving up those cards for cash back.
