I SUCK at gardening. A couple of weeks ago I lost all interest in new credit. I just lost interest in it. Well, that was then.

i helped my daughters get cards. Both cap 1 cards for 2k. Helped my wife get a Freedom for 4500 and a Capital one for 3000.

then I went for the Venture One (5k), and Care Credit (15k). On another note, Amex and Barclay both gave me the middle finger for more cards.

chevron and Quick silver CLI next month!

I think I just needed a nap last month.

It's definitely hard. I've resisted to apply since May. I am holding off until Jan. But when that time comes around, I'll be out of control lol.

Gardening might be difficult for the entry level group who (like me for example) are impatient and wish to build a large enough collection early, so that later on all that history rings in at about the same time, offering some breathing space to make better choices. Barely a single year into all this now and thanks to this forum some Real Discipline is kicking in. It's not been exactly easy (credit is a marathon) but this gardening thing affords you just enough time to strategically plan for your next couple of quality & useful cards while carefully waiting for the previous Score Dings to bounce back. And you know that you've arrived (Discipline) when you are so ready to go for that CC you been wanting and holding off for when you change your mind at the very last minute and instead determine that your chances for a better SL & Terms is yours by turning your attention to your plans for other CC's and just continue to sit everything out awhile longer. It's definitely not easy, especially when your chances are Very Good for approvals however that New TL DING & Inq. Ding are a great incentive.

Be strong! I completely agree with you. Almost a month in the garden and I couldnt help myself and had to apply for another card.

I'm right there with you!

I had to put a freeze on my CBRs just to get myself it stop. It's hard hearing about all these great cards people are getting and the benefits and not feeling a little envious. But I know I must stop for now to get the cards (and CLIs) I really want. . You'll make it!

Heh hee. It's not like finding that manner of discipline overnight. In fact like many of you i kept on apping untill getting stopped cold in my tracks with 2 successive Denials in a roll. Didn't want further recon reviews from other new lenders to see Inq's that had no corresponding tradelines with them to match. A clear Red Flag in plain site to them that can more easily sway their decision to follow suit.

Doesn't mean i gave up either. Just gave it another month or two and after a few more i went and luckily approved for. Counted my blessings and put on the brakes full stop. At least untill the score dings come back up again

I thought it was hard when I quit smoking. That took 28 years to do!

In the garden now but I will say it's been easier since I have my foundation cards & TL's to build with. I know by waiting in the wings patiently, I'll be better prepared for the prime accounts.

Put those bureaus on ice folks to help resist urge to app AND stay away from Credit Card Approvals lol. Has worked wonders for me!
