Thanks for the response. They have a BIG note on their page that says don't apply if you have had credit problems in the last 7 years. I guess they wan't someone more perfect. That won't work for me....

Alot of furniture stores will use Citi Financial, Wells Fargo, GE, etc.

I was able to get financing at my local furniture store through GE.

Just be aware that a lot of these loans are a minor ding on your credit report because they are considered "consumer finance loans." In general its not so much that they hurt your report but they do not help as much as a normal tradeline. If you have few other problems on your report you may see it listed as a negative.

So long as the card reports as a revolving account, it will not be coded as a CFL. There is no such thing as a CFL card or revolving account.

This CFL thing is tricky.

I want to finance some new furniture for my home. I would rather finance with somewhere offering an installment loan as opposed to a CC. If I finance with a CC, then my util will spike, and my scores will tank.

I did some thinking about it. It seems like getting a standard loan from NFCU or using my NFCU CC (low interest rate) might be optimal to financing in store. They always offer like 12 months no interest, but after that their interest rates are always in the 20s, which is gross.

if you are just trying to get furniture and not a new tl, have you tried Aaron's? Not sure if there is one in Michigan or not. That's who we bought our furniture through- its a "buy here, pay here" place but has really good customer service and products

Thanks to AArons my credit is awesome! i had bought a couple of furniture items like 6 items between 2002-2008 and i paid them and they reported paid as agreed as a installment loan and this helped my score also they have 90 days same as cash options!

did you rent or buy with anderson? If you bought, what sort of credit score did you need to get a cl with aarons... I see on their site they say no credit check, how do they then report to the CRA?

I always thought Aaron's was a rip-off?? Like you're paying the same $$ for plastic/veneer furniture that for the same $$ you could buy "real wood" somewhere else?? Or have I been brainwashed by the likes of Rooms to Go and Sears??

Do they just report as an installment loan???

Have you tried Value City? I know that they are pretty easy to get credit with and I know that they have stores in that area. American Signature is the same company just use a different name for their southern stores.

I actually like Value City... I had a credit line with them a long time ago and I don't remember the CL nor do I remember if it was considered Consumer Financing line of credit...

I also can't remember what CRA they pull (if I ever even cared to ask back then, prior to my forum days)...

Finally, what sort of scores do they like?

Do you have furniture from them that you financed?

I actually work for them as a Store Manager several years ago. You "should" be good 600 above. CL would run all over the board. I would see a lot of CL's in the $1500/$2,000 range. I believe that they still use WFNNB for their CC. I will tell you I have been told that if you have a BK they are not friendly towards that. I have a lot of furniture from American Signature (which is the same just a different name, but did not have their CC. Not sure of the CRA that they pull. Whatever WFNNB pulls would be the one.

Never had a BK... Only a few medical collections within the last year. All paid off now....

My wife was approved for a Raymour & Flannigan $6kcl with a 625 score. She also had a Charge off from last year on her report.

Hey sorry it took so long to get back I work at the casino so ive been busy but anywhoo I bought my items and there regular furniture just like rooms to go Havertys has the same bed aarons has lol.... some is good and some is junk for different clientals ya know anywhoo aarons also has 90days same as cash where you pay no intrest which is the best! if not you end up paying 200 bucks or more or less in intrest depending on the price of the item! they report as installement loan after youve paid ! the entire balance but when your due date they will call but i usually let my voice mail pickup but ive bought so many items they know ill send my payment in lol they still report paid as agreed regardless ! I love using them but Im done with them I have enough! Good Luck I reccommend 90days same as cash! Your income is your credit basically thts it and have refr. which they will verify and thts it! i like them!!!! no rip off what so ever just go to the website they have basically the same crap Rooms to Go and Badcock or Ashelys has wider variety and Higher end Furniture thts the difference to me but some is the same!
