Alright, so I applied for the Citi Prestige and was denied due to having too many Inquiries in the last 12 months (I believe like 10 INQ) and as a result too many new accounts in the last 12 months. I contacted what I thought was recon dept (This is the # I called 1 (800) 695-5171) but not even recon can override.

I have heard some success with EO. Should I attempt to recon with EO? If so, what would be the best approach?

Thank you all

Did the recon department deny you for the same reasons? I know Citi is inquiry sensitive.

I have successfully recon'd with Citi last year in December. I was declined for having too many accounts with balances. I had to write a letter and mail it to their Dakota address with a copy of my W2. At the bottom of the letter, I specifically mentioned that if this recon involves another HP, I would like to cancel this recon request.

45 days later I got an email Congratulating :-)

From what it seems, Citi isn't recon friendly whatsoever. If they didn't want to even listen to why I had the numbers of INQ and new accounts as I do, I can imagine trying to recon any denial with Citi. It seems like they stand by every decision and I can't think of any recon situation that would be successful. Maybe it is just my particular situation but it seems hopeless attempting to recon anything with Citi no matter the denial reason, unless of course, it's an error on the CR that caused the denial. Not sure what to think. This is the second time attempting to get my foot in the door with Citi for two different products. Oh well.

This was however 6 years ago. Ever since then, they've been very generous to me... which is probably why they gave me an instant approval on the Prestige card even though I have around 12 inquiries on my report when I app'ed. 5 of which was within the last 2 months.

Maybe it is just my particular situation but it seems hopeless attempting to recon anything with Citi no matter the denial reason, unless of course, it's an error on the CR that caused the denial. Not sure what to think. This is the second time attempting to get my foot in the door with Citi for two different products. Oh well.

I understand its your goal to establish relationship with them. but your siggy says you are fine for now. without them. it will not hurt to stay in the garden for a while and even let some of the inquiries fall off. then you will be a shoe in with them. but maybe by that time. you don't want em anyway.

its like i did with cap one back in may. i apped for auto loan. they denied

now every week getting letters from cap one that im pre approved. even sent blank check. im just not interessted anymore. there lost for sure. but who knows. i love playing hard to get.
