How often does BOA give CLI

How often can we ask BOA for CLI. My 99/500 card became unsecure couple of months ago and became $1k CL. I asked for CLI online for $5000K but it approved for $1300 new CL. When should I ask for next CLI with BOA?

Word is you can get 20% every three months or so.

I wouldn't push it, though. If you asked for $5K and they gave you $1300, I'd be careful asking for too much too soon.

Typically people on here have said it's good to wait about 6 months between each request although you can probably do it more often.

Edit: Hmmm, 3 months huh? Guess I don't have to wait that long lol.

I recently went from $5k to $6.5k when I had asked to go to $10k. Wish they would've given me $7.5k at least. $6.5k just seems like such an odd number to me...

Every three months has worked for me - I've received 2 CLIs in the past 6 months.

What are they going to do? CLD and FR? I thought that is Amex Style.....

FR? No.

CLD and/or close? Yes, they have been known to do that.

There are even posts where people called a credit analyst to get a CLI and after they were on hold a little while, the credit analyst came back to say they were cutting their CLs because they didn't like what they saw.

Nothing is automatic, even with generous lenders like BofA. In this climate, caution is always warranted (...he said, just four days after he was approved for his 11th account in the last 12 months).

If your card is still freshly unsecured....don't do it. I tried the every 3 month thing (was always an unsecured though) and it worked the first time on the Bofa Visa then a second time on the Bofa M/C. NOW, it doesn't work at all. In fact, I was told by a rep that I had been "locked out" from using the online button. I didn't go crazy with it, just that my account was under a year old. they might see and do the same thing with you. Just saying.

I really think it's up to their computer formulas. If the limit falls under some generated threshold, they probably bump it up to some calculated ideal number. That's the only reason I can see getting the automatic increases to strange numbers (it's currently at $13,600).

Oh, but when it comes to manually requesting, I have no idea. =) I'm already afraid to request a CLI, because they might see that my limit is far more than it should be and bump me down.
