Changes to Barclays Apple Card!

Looking at the Barclays site and under their Retail card the Barclaycard Visa with Apple Rewards is an upgraded version of the previous Apple card. Not only has the design of the card changed (with EMV chip included) but you can now earn reward points redeemable for Apple gift cards. There isn't much information other than that in the description but it's new AFIAK.

oh great, they put chips on apple card, but not arrival? hmph

but about the card, it looks niiiiiiiiice, and you get apple gifts card? I think they changed the card because so many people pc their apple card to something else later

I just got the apple card last month. Do you think they will send out the new ones to existing card holders or are we just stuck with the ugly white card and no rewards:/

Interesting though I honestly have no need for any of those kinds of cards. I'm pretty content with my current MacBook.

Yeah I think it's strange that they put the chips on Apple card and not others. The Ring card is about to get a design change and they aren't added the chip to it immediately which doesn't make sense considering they'll have to by next year anyway. Waste of money if you ask me.

But yes, probably since lots buy the card once then PC it, they decide to added Apple gift card rewards. Makes sense for people as many upgrade their phones/ipads yearly.

I like the new one...it's so pretty and shiny *_* I have a feeling it will be a 1x only card although given the underwriting isn't strict, it's definitely a good choice for those new to credit/rebuilding.

I would never need the Apple card; I'm the type to save up and then buy when I have the money. Plus I just got a new Macbook Pro earlier this year.

It makes sense that Apple's card would be more attractive with the latest technology

I wonder if gift card rewards will be offered to all or just new card holders. Hmmm looks better with emv. Hate the color. But if they would just offer more than 20 days to buy for 0 apr.

Thanks for posting this. I opened mine in August so I just called and they upgraded me to this card.

Great info! I guess that answers earlier questions. Looks like you have to call to get it upgraded.

Whoa! Not only did I get the upgrade, but I also got a $200 SP CLI and I've only had the card since 9/11/14. Barclay's rocks!!

Who did you contact to PC? I sent a secured message and was told my account wasn't eligible for an upgrade to a rewards card and that I'd have to apply. I opened my account in June and just started to use my card in October, so no payment history with Barclays yet.

Me too. Sent a SM last night and this morning woke up to the same reply. Can't switch cards, have to re-apply. I'm just gonna stick with my plan of having this CL put on my rewards MC. I don't really care about the Apple Rewards either. Just figured if I could upgrade it, might as well.

I just called. They said the new product comes with rewards. I need to re apply. No thanks. It's just not right. But ok. I'm not gonna re apply.

There is no need to reapply for the upgrade to the new card. I logged into my account to send a secure message but decided to call instead. I dialed 1-866-603-7217. This number that can be found under the "contact us" link when you log into your account. I talked to a CSR who told me the card just came out this past Monday and that she would have to transfer me to a Credit analyst (or someone of that nature) to do the upgrade because she couldn't do it. I told the anayslt that I wanted to upgrade my current Apple card to the new one and he said okay. Read me the new Terms and Conditions with all of the rewards info, asked if I understood all of that and then proceeded to tell me that the rewards structure would take affect on my account in 3 days. My new card is on it's way and will have the same account number etc. I can continue to use my current card until the new one comes. Then he told me I was eligible for a CLI and it didn't require a HP on my credit. I accepted that, told him thanks, and hung up. Quick and easy. Again, you don't have to reapply to get the upgrade. The CSR I initially talked to didn't know much about the new card and that's why she transferred me. Hope this helps.
