I just received notice in the mail that Chase Sapphire Preferred will no longer offer 3x UR points on airfare and hotel accommodations booked through Chase.com/UltimateRewards as of 1/1/2016! See below.

This is disappointing news. I hope this is the last of the benefits Chase plans to strip from this card. It will be hard to justify a $95 annual fee if they keep this up!

They do that and they'll be seeing a lot of downgrades to Sapphire.

This is less about the Sapphire Preferred and just focusing on Ultimate Rewards. All Chase cards that earn them have these changes.

I think when my one year is up I will close my csp,there's really no reason to keep the card. The Marriott card at least gets u a free night for the af you pay.

I may keep it for as long as they don't raise the AF. Unless a better AF card rolls by. Especially if it's metal. (I know the Marriott is metal, and it's on my list.)

For me personally I will have to see how this change is in action before i make any snap decisions. On topic of marriot its okay for cat 1-4 hotel for free stay, but marriot points aren't worth much to me.

That's not as bad, but it still sucks.

I can sort of understand this because they have been getting rid of most of the portals in the UR mall. I think they only one that is worth still using is hotels.com. I know it kind of sucks buts its not all doom and gloom.

i'm contemplating the Marriott right now for this purpose. anything better???
