Chase/Bank One charge off

My credit is in the crapper. A lot happened after my divorce and I fell behind. I have lots of old collections that are close to the 7 year mark. Next year, 12 of 14 collections will be older than seven years.

I have an unpaid charge off on my credit report from Chase/Bank One. The charge off is killing me. Has anyone had any luck settling with them? Last year some attorney/collection company called me and offered me a settlement. They even sent a letter saying they would entertain a reasonable settlement offer.

Just a little history, I owe $7500 and the account was charged off in February 2003. But I pulled a recent credit report and they are showing the last date of activity on November 2006. Can I get that corrected? Because I would only have 3 years of derogatory info instead of 6 years.

Settling will not do as much good as you think... If at all possible try to negotiate a PFD with them prior to paying.There are a couple of threads in the GCI forum.
