I also don't think it's so cut and dry. Your income/spending habits/credit report are going to factor into play rather than just some arbitrary credit limit.

AmEx Total Exposure Question

From previous posts, the consensus seems to be that AmEx will request a 4506-T proof of income once a member reaches the $35k total credit limit of all their cards.

Also, it has been stated that AmEx will allow 5 personal cards for each member.

My question is how do NPSL card accounts factor in to the flag for review?

For example, If I had 4 revolver accounts totaling $35,000 with AmEx, and applied for, let's say, an AmEx Green card, would I be flagged for review?

I'm sure they factor all the cards and limits in but I think spending is more of a factor. Back in 2010 I had limits with them that were around 50k total with no issues. Over 25-35k might increase the odds but I don't think its a sure thing especially if spending is not out of hand. The charge cards seem to increase the chance more but hard to say how much, at least from my experience.

forgot to mention, as more time passes Amex seems to trust me a little bit more so history goes a long way in my opinion. Use Amex cards responsibly and you shouldnt have too many issues.
