Oops, Chase deleted a post

I'm only posting because of the repetoire in the tweet exchange that I thought was hilarious--not to get into the politics of it. Chase's post was deleted, but you know how anything on the Internet lives in infamy

I thought the whole thing was funny. Just to play Devil’s Advocate here, I didn’t think it was an unreasonable tweet. They’re just pointing out ways to save money—they’re not forcing people to do those things.

Yeah really even looking at my current life I spend all sorts of stupid things.

Admittedly right now I am optimizing my life for work and I am trying to mass-transit walk everywhere I can, but last night after flailing around to find a reasonably price place to stay, and finally finding one, even I looked at the 10 dollar Uber fee twice before just hoofing it the ~1.2 miles with my two backpacks (F’n three laptops).

Also spending too much at Starbucks but when my internal clock is screwed up having to be up at 4 am on Monday to catch a flight and that extending to Tuesday at 5 am cause, well breakfast is 8 bucks coffee and coffee cake.

Eventually will do better but I think most of us could reduce our expenses if we tried.

Buying what amounts to a small duffle bag to replace my second backpack probably also is an extraneous expense, certainly didn’t need to buy as expensive one as I just did but meh. Occasionally I like nice well designed things.

You are so right, no question about it. Looking back, I spent like crazy until I semi-retired. Living on a reduced and fixed income put you on the right track real fast. And it’s amazing how much I’m saving on things like grinding my own coffee at home and not having a car, which is is a biggie! Thank goodness for the reliable and plentiful public transportation in my area.

I think the article hit a nerve with some because they saw it as the pot calling the kettle black 😂🤣😂

Do you save much money grinding? Whenever I've looked it always seems like the whole beans cost more than the pre-ground stuff.

I guess there are perks to living in a bigger city, and having access to all those convienences. However, it is more expensive despite cutting some costs. Public transportation still has costs, and you might have higher housing expenses. So what I save on those, probably is offset by my car payment. There is no public transport here, except a couple privats taxi. Sometimes I wish that Uber would come in and offer competition. Mostb of the places are withing walking distance other than work and grocery store.

I could probably cut back on some expenditures, as we probably all could. But I tried with some, and it just didn't work out. Maybe down the road after my situation changes, I will be able to do it more effectively.

Definitely some pot calling here lol, but I think it's also insulting to the Americans that are TRULY struggling because of poor wages and high costs of living. Someone who is working 2-3 jobs just to barely make ends meet, probably isn't blowing their money on cups of coffee and eating out. You can't just make a blanket statement like that and not expect some blowback for it.
