“This is a 13-year scheme that involved thousands of credit card transactions whereby Karan falsely reported — even though she incurred legitimate charges — as fraudulent,” said Assistant District Attorney Catherine McCaw during the hearing.

I can't believe that at some point during those 13 years, there wasn't a flag on one or more of her accounts that she was constantly claiming fraud. It's amazing what people can get away with.

Barclays at least caught on in 2016...but that's still 8 years...banks must use a lot of automated systems for this. AMEX got taken for over 200k and Chase over 150k. Yikes.

Agreed. I would think they would catch on within months, maybe a year. But 13 years???

Amazing, no matter how much people hate law inforcement they are always smarter than the bad guy, might take a while but they usually get their man! Where would we be without them?
