I find some extra money quite often, and it usually turns out to be anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars every year. Maybe $1,000 a year average, between me and my spouse.

I noticed on Facebook that there is a mass arbitration against Prosper, that financial company that is always sending me offers for high interest loans on Credit Karma.

It says that lawyers have put together a mass arbitration against them that could potentially cover over 17.6 million Americans that either applied for or received a loan from Prosper, and gave them information that was later in a data breach.

The figures it quoted were roughly $500-1000 per person if you were impacted.

https://www.classaction.org/data-breach-lawsuits/prosper-september-2025

Although I don't qualify for this one, I suppose some of the people reading this might since they deal in personal loans, credit cards, and HELOCs.

I keep a close eye on class action settlements and things like that because sometimes they end up owing me a lot of money.

(The other day I even got a check for $1,262 in the mail because the police misused my biometric data in violation of State law in 2019. I laughed and used it to finish paying off the hospital for my surgery last year. The last three accounts were PIF today.)

The funny thing was that much older operating systems were pretty secure, more secure than what cloud providers offer today.

Wells Fargo's online banking was the best when the backend was on Solaris 8. And the US Senate ran their site on "SunOS" which was the name of Solaris from before it was Solaris, SunOS 4.

The Senate was using that until the 2010s.

Why would you use something that old? If it works and it's stable, you should leave it alone.

Server operating systems don't need a lot of bling bling. They're not like consumer operating systems.

You don't want a lot going on under the hood. You want the applications you're invested in to work and you want security.

..depends on what 'cloud' is used and how much the user knows about the 'magical' internet, data security and so forth.

Nothing but a black box to millions..

KISS (Keep it simple stupid) still has value among seemingly complex things. It's hard sometimes to not overthink things though.. and convenience seems to always have an unresistable advantage among people despite all other variables.

Good lookin out. Kinda ironic that all of this is happening to “Prosper” lol.
By the way, how much effort goes into participating in these kinds of suits. I like the sound of the check - even more so if it’s easy.
