Can you tell us what you are really wanting in a credit monitoring service? Is it basically just a way to see if your credit profile is improving in general over time, to be able to see fresh copies of your credit reports at least once a month, and to see your basic FICO 8 scores once a month?

That can be done at almost no cost.

If on the other hand you want to be able to see all your Auto and Mortgage and Bankcard scores at least every quarter, then there's no real substitute for the $30 or $40 per month myFICO service.

I've been using the Ultimate 3B to monitor my profile over time and track all my scores, and have been using the in-between monthly 3B reports to keep tracking the scores. The $40 plan sounds like it's exactly what I'm looking for--what I'm getting with the 3B Ultimate is great, I just wish it updated monthly.

I believe what they may tell you is that you have to cancel your current subscription and then re-subscribe to the new product. If so, be sure to save all previous reports as PDFs that you want to keep, since you would likely lose all your past history.

I just need to see when the report updates. I opened a new 5000 CC to transfer $4000 of debt, and paid off another $4000 in debt. So all but my one new $5000 card will have a balance. I am going to shoot for a mortgage as soon as the other cards report their zero balance.. we really need a house.

@Anonymous wrote:

@Anonymous wrote:

I just need to see when the report updates. I opened a new 5000 CC to transfer $4000 of debt, and paid off another $4000 in debt. So all but my one new $5000 card will have a balance. I am going to shoot for a mortgage as soon as the other cards report their zero balance.. we really need a house.

It sounds like you want to make sure that (a) your credit cards reports their new balances... and then (b) pull your 3B report with all your scores (which will include the mortgage scores). You want those two things to happen in that order -- don't want B to happen before A.

Happily you can control when B happens to some extent. Although you can't get your 3B report any sooner than 90 days after the last one, you can delay pulling it once you become eligible for a new one.

Can the people who actually use the Ultimate package confirm I am right there?

Yes that's correct.

So your steps should be these:

(1) Find out when the earliest you can pull the report.

(2) Use a free tool like Credit Karma to pull your reports each week until you are certain that your CC balances have definitely updated with EQ and TU Then give it 3 extra business days beyond that in case EX is taking longer.

In my case EX almost always updates before TU & EQ. Also bear in mind that Credit Karma is a weekly service, so you can't really fine tune it that closely.

(3) Then pull your 3B report and get your mortgage scores.
