I have been AU on my wife's, obviously the same address / last name for like 16 years. About 2 years back when I started my own, I did not even have credit scores, because simply it was not my own, BoA. It has been reporting under my own name until now. Weird part is the age is not included for AAoA calculation, but the balance is included for utilizaon purpose - both EQ and TU. And somehow, it is not reporting under EX.

I put my Husband on my PenFed Credit Card as an authorized user a month ago. I got the card a year ago and have a $50K credit line. My balance is around $5-$10. He used the card last week for a $10 purchase. He didn't get a score increase when my card reported on the 15th???? We have been counting on a bump! What am I missing here? His credit file is very thin and score currently at 680. That credit line is HUGE compared to his small credit limits.

Please share your knowledge on this one...

Same last name and same address on both your credit reports?

Where are you getting your scores from?

What derogs are of record on your card?

What is the age of the card, and what is the current average age of accounts on your husband's credit report?

I would review some of these forums and ABCD's links found in his siggy and have him work on his score and reviewing derogs as mentioned above as well. I don't like the AU argument, there is no easy way to increase FICO. You gotta do some work, well, he needs to do some work.

Thin file? What was his AAoA before? If it was already short, he'd benefit more from a 5+ year old card; a one year old card, even with a high limit, is not going to do much to help - especially if util wasn't a problem to begin with.

Uhh, the reason for no scores bumping up for your husband is that Penfed doesn't report AUs to the CBs. You need to add him to a different card that back dates. Such as Navy Federal, Chase, Capitol One, Citi, FNBO, BofA or Synchrony bank. They all report AUs.
