The official sites (EQ, EX and TU) are your true scores. Credit Karma and Credit Sesame are FICO variants, often referred to as FAKO scores. Of course myfico is the accurate site for all scores (FICO, mortgage, credit cards and auto scoring)!

You want FICO scores. You can get them from myFICO (at a cost), Experian, Discover, and others.

Credit Karma offers up VantageScores, which aren't used by lenders. Use Karma for its reports and alerts, but disregard the scores. TU also gives you VantageScores.

If I remember correctly, Equifax will give you a FICO score in addition to a score they've concocted on their own.

@Anonymous wrote:

Just say your score reads 720 on credit karma for equafax. Credit Karma reports Vantage 3.0 scores, which aren't widely used by lenders. myFICO reports FICO scores, which are the most widely used in the credit business. To make things even more complicated, the Equifax website reports their own scores using a proprietary scoring model! Confusing? You bet!

Here are my EQ scores: Credit Karma (Vantage 3.0) = 787; Equifax website = 674; myFICO (EQ FICO 8) = 725. Pretty big discrepancies!

Your FICO scores are the most relevant to most lenders, although some use credit reporting agencies other than Equifax. It's usually best to determine which agency a particular lender uses, and go from there. Good luck!

None of the scores you have received so far are FICO scores, so they aren't meaningful.

If you get a score through Experian, chances are it is a FICO score, so it would be meaningful.
