Anyone that has referenced this resulting in a score change was mislead by the everyday problem of alert reasons not being related to score changes. As others have stated, it's not a Fico scoring factor.

I received an email this morning regarding an alert I logged in the alert is below

Dormant Account Activity
Dormant SYNCB/JCP Retail Card is Now Active.

An account is considered dormant after no activity is reported for 6 months. New activity was recently detected on a SYNCB/JCP Account.

Source

Experian

The alert is correct in that JC Penney card has had no activity since May 2020. I used the card to make a purchase. I checked my account on JC Penney web site the statement has not been cut. The statement will cut this week. I will not get another Experian credit report for about 3 weeks. My current score is 802 it will be interesting to see if there is any bump in the score at all.

I had a card go from dormant to non dormant / active. I don't recall it being a scoring factor on Experian.

I had an activity alert for a CU card that was dormant for eight years. No change in score.

Likewise here - my QS was used monthly by my daughter but PIF and reported $0 each month. She used it last month only a couple days before statement cut and a $7 purchase reported. Got the non-dormant alert too. Zero effect on score. The purpose of it is to alert you is all. If the bureau thinks the card is unused for a stretch and then suddenly posts usage, it's a warning in case someone got ahold of the card number. They figure you don't use it so sudden activity after prolonged non-activity could be a fraud indicator.

That's just part of monitoring, has absolutely no effect on scoring.
