Hi guys,

Not sure where or how to post this....

My referral to tar baby was in no way a racial slur...I don't (nor have I ever used them).

As per wikipedia a TR was a doll made from turpentine and tar used to entrap B'rer rabbit the the second of the Uncle Remus stories. The more B'rer rabbit fought the tar -baby the more entangled he became. In contemporary usage tar baby refers to any "sticky situation that is only aggravated by additional contact".

We can be PC since you are the moderator and you have the power to edit but since I certainly meant no racial slur by the use of this term ...you'll forgive me if I don't apologize.

For the record, the same Wikipedia article notes that TR is considered by some to be a racial slur. I saw your original post, and I could tell that you meant no offense by the use of the term, but it is nevertheless a pejorative term to some people.

As I said, you did not direct the phrase at anyone, but you did post it. This is not about being PC, it's about following the TOS in the fora. The Admin, mods and forum members take great pride in keeping the fora friendly and supportive. Just so you know, I edited your post because you violated myFICO's TOS that states:

The doll reference in the original post did nothing to inhance your point and infact it confused me.

I first thought about the racial slure (the only time I ever heard anyone use the term is when they meant to use the slure) and then I found myself trying to figure out how it applied to your problem.

Not to belabor the point.... but , as a child I was read the Uncle Remus series, along with Mark Twain and the Brother's Grimm.

The reference was to what I would consider classic literature.....anyone who has read this story would readily recognize the way I used the term was to mean :ia sticky problem wherein anyway you look to make the situation better can actually result in more of a problem than you started out with ( in other words sometimes it's better to just leave somthing alone)

Once again it's surprising to me that this is even an issue....

Also not to belabor the point that fused made above: The term you used is an offensive term, even if that is not the way you intended it. I don't understand why it is surprising to you that a racially pejorative term would be edited from your post.

Disney has never released Song of the South, its 1946 film based on the Uncle Remus stories, on home video in North America largely out of concern that many people would find it offensive. Some of the songs and animations from the film have been released, but never the entire film.
